Even if God predestined us, wouldn't we still have the perspective of free will?

Absolutely. Which is why a belief in predestination along the lines that I've described isn't a reason to stand still or stop living life. To know that your life has a path foreknown by God... for me... it's comforting. It means that there aren't steps I'm going to take that He has not already made provision for.
