2001


The English Standard Version (ESV) is published as an update of the RSV (1971).

September 11th and the destruction of the World Trade Center in NYC signifies an American War on Terror that would continue to the present.

In relatively difficult cases where wording seemed difficult, the translators and transliterators would shift their writing to the use of Masoretic Text, Nestle-Aland Greek, the Septuagint, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and other lesser known texts. For the most part, however, the ESV was built from a foundation of the RSV rather than anything original.


2002


Eugene Peterson publishes The Message as an "everyday language" Bible.


2003


Archibishop James Ussher's Annals of World History is translated into English for the first time in approximately 350 years.

US Invasion of Iraq and the second Iraq War commences on March 20.

2004



The Plymouth Brethren (1825) become politically active by creating tracts and literature for worldwide evangelism.

2005


The New English Translation (or .NET) is derived from 20 scholars whose main intent was to put a new Bible on the internet available for free download.


2006



Israel invades Lebanon in a fight against Hezbollah.
